About openji

openji uses AI to help people remember loved ones who have passed. Upload their photo and a recording, and they can speak to you again in their own face and voice.

We believe technology is at its best when it's gentle. This site exists for one reason: to bring a little comfort to the living.

How it works

The system extracts a stable front-facing likeness from your photos, builds the voice template from the clearest part of your recording, and a video model renders lip-synced, expression-aware speech. The whole process takes about 30–60 minutes; we'll email you when it's done.

Likeness & voice consent

• Before creating a role, you must have the explicit consent of the deceased (given during their lifetime) or their next of kin.
• Creating roles of others without authorization is strictly prohibited; any legal liability rests with the user.
• If we detect abuse (celebrities, public figures, political figures, etc.), we will delete the role and suspend the account immediately.

Data & privacy

• Photos and audio you upload are used only to generate the videos you request — never for training or shared externally.
• Generated videos are kept 7 days by default, then destroyed.
• When you delete a role, its face and voice data are destroyed immediately.

An honest note

An AI-generated video is not real footage. Please treat it as a letter, a farewell — not a replacement. If you're in deep grief, please also reach out to the real people around you.
